Swimsprout offers a comprehensive training program for individuals who have a desire to teach children life-saving skills and make a difference in their communities. Instructor trainees work alongside a certified swimsprout Master Instructor or above and are provided hands-on in-water training with children of various ages and abilities over a six week period. The in-water training is taught in conjunction with theoretical development through self-study, lessons and video review. The instructor trainee will study concepts in child development and psychology, behavioral knowledge, child anatomy, and physiology. Through learning these concepts, the instructor trainee will be able to successfully teach a student proper breath control, independent swimming and floating skills. All instructor trainees will be expected to follow swimsprout policies and procedures beyond their initial training. Ongoing development is a requirement each year beyond the initial training through workshops, seminars and additional hands on in-water training.

Upon completion of the training, new instructors receive a certificate of completion, advertised on the swimsprout website, all swimsprout social media platforms, ongoing support through our private instructor page on facebook and interaction with other swimsprout instructors. CPR certification must be completed and maintained. Swimsprout instructors are also required to carry liability insurance.
