Our family has happily lived in the Avalon Park area since 2003 and has seen the vast development of the area since that time. I have always loved the water and was a competitive swimmer in high school. I am a certified scuba diver who thoroughly enjoys exploring the underwater world. My first experience with survival swim lessons was in 1986, when my twin cousins participated in a swim program to learn how to roll onto their backs and float. Years later, and after many more family members went through survival swim lessons, I enrolled my own twin daughters. I was so convinced and motivated about the lifesaving skills my daughters had learned, I decided to become a certified swim instructor who would teach the same life-saving skills. I began teaching swim lessons in 2001 and since that time, I have taught more than 3,000 children throughout the United States. I worked diligently to expand my knowledge by participating in the Master Instructor training program and eventually made it to the highest level possible, Senior Master Instructor (SMI). As a Master Instructor, I studied theoretical concepts in behavioral sciences, child development, psychology, and child anatomy/physiology. I also traveled to various parts of the country and have trained more than 40 new swim instructors. In all those different areas and working with new instructors, I was responsible for the advertising of new students and securing training facilities. I was also mentoring 10 to 12 instructors throughout the U.S., providing guidance and troubleshooting lessons to enhance on-going instructor development. As a SMI, I trained instructors to become Master Instructors. As part of those trainings, I worked in-water with the instructors to identify theoretical gaps and to improve their efficiency as instructors. This was often aided by conducting many hours of academic and video review sessions. During re-certification conferences, I conducted workshops that supported instructor development. All this while building and maintaining my own client base in Orlando. When I am teaching your child the skills needed to survive an aquatic accident, you’ll see that I am firm, fair, and passionate about what I do. I love meeting new people and educating them throughout the journey of your child’s lessons. I want to ensure that all students leave my program with the tools and confidence to survive any aquatic accident and that the parents are also educated on how to help maintain the newly acquired aquatic skills and how to encourage their children beyond the initial training. Parents will be provided plenty of opportunities to get in the water and learn how to reinforce these lifesaving skills. My goal is to teach children the skills they will use for a lifetime. I have learned that when children obtain aquatic skills at a young age, it exudes confidence and makes them more assured in other aspects of their lives too. I discovered independent swimming and floating skills for little ones when my youngest was an infant and we were looking for a swimming program for her. I was so amazed by what she learned that I decided to train to become an instructor. I attended UT Dallas and earned my BA in literary studies along with my teaching certificate for secondary grades. Whether in the pool, at the beach, or on the lakes, Heidi has always been drawn to the water. Her passion for swimming turned competitive at just five years old, and by her teenage years, she had set multiple age-group state records and competed at the national level. She went on to swim at the University of Georgia, where she earned Division I All-American status. After earning her B.S.Ed. with a specialization in teaching students with special needs (K–12) and a certification in Health and Physical Education (K–12), Heidi combined her love for teaching with her passion for swimming. This led to a rewarding career in swim instruction, where she could share both her skills and her heart with children and families. Since 2019, she has been a valued member of the swimsprout team, specializing in water safety and survival lessons for children of all ages. Heidi’s joy shines through as she helps children master the essential skills that keep them safe and confident in the water. Her dedication to water safety deepened when her own daughters—all of whom took lessons with Master Instructor and Owner, Heidi Burnett—sparked her interest in becoming more involved in survival swim instruction. A proud mother of four, Heidi has called Oviedo, FL, home for the past 25 years. Her oldest daughter is studying physical therapy at UCF, her second is pursuing business marketing at USF, and her two younger daughters attend Hagerty High School—one a published author and the other a standout athlete on her travel lacrosse team. Heidi finds her greatest fulfillment in working closely with families, guiding them through the journey of water safety, and building skills that reach far beyond the pool. As an early teenager she began babysitting and caring for young children and continues to nanny, in her spare time. She began at the United States Military Academy in 2017 pursing a career as an Army Aviation Officer studying Space Science/Engineering. She is also annually certified through the Army in Combat Lifesaving including: CPR, First Aid, Needle decompression, and NPA. She has always discussed the potential to train to become an instructor but there was never enough time for a full training. After watching her mom (Heidi Burnett) for 20 years, teach infants and toddlers to learn and perfect their survival skills, she was eager to learn herself. She was introduced to survival swim lessons when her first daughter was born. At just 3 three years old, her oldest daughter was so confident in her skills that she could swim-float-swim the length of any pool and swim confidently in open bodies of water without a flotation device. Living on a lake and having pools and retention ponds all around, ensuring her children possess the necessary life-saving skills in water was never a question. Being passionate about these lessons came naturally to Jenn, as she witnessed her own daughter use the skills taught by swimsprout to save her life when she fell into a neighbor’s pool at a party on Memorial Day in 2019. Jenn has been coaching children since 2007. She coached gymnastics for 5 years, has been a CrossFit coach for youth and adults since 2013, coached owned and operated CrossFit East Orange from 2014-2023. After hearing stories of local toddlers losing their lives to drowning, Jenn knew she needed to act. She attended the University of South Florida and studied interdisciplinary social sciences focusing on sociology and social work. Kelly and her husband Tim have three children Duke Teddie, and Kobe. Kelly and Tim heard about swimsprout through a family friend and enrolled their son Duke at 8 months in lessons with Briana in the fall of 2020. He learned the rollback to float before he walked. When Duke began to walk in the spring of 2021, he returned to lessons with Heidi who then taught him the swim float swim. It was during Duke's lessons Kelly began inquiring about becoming part of the swimsprout team. Within weeks of Kelly's initial interview she was in training. Upon completion of her training, Kelly created swimsprout Cypress Springs and has since enjoyed meeting many families in the East Orlando area. Kelly has now taught 400 children and became eligible to begin training to become a Master Instructor. To become a Master Instructor, Kelly will undergo a minimum of 100 hours of academic training and will conduct two supervised trainings before completing the Master Instructor program. She will then train new instructors entering the swimsprout family and will mentor new instructors with their in-water/out of water development. Kelly is passionate about providing families the gift of giving their children a fighting chance at survival and aquatic knowledge for a lifetime of competent and confident water skills. Jahaira’s day to day experience in the hospital setting was one of the contributing factors that encouraged her and her husband to prioritize enrolling their three children in swim lessons with swimsprout before they were a year old. Jahaira fell in love with the swimsprout program after witnessing her children learn to swim with confidence and successfully completing the program. Their love for the water combined with swimming skills has offered her family an endless amount of bonding experiences. Her passion for teaching made doing presentations about her companies’ offerings the most enjoyable part of her marketing career. She left her career to focus her attention on raising and teaching her two amazing kids, one of whom rocks an extra chromosome. As a Florida native who spent most of her youth in a pool, boating, fishing, or at the beach, Holly knew it was important for her children to learn aquatic safety skills. She was first introduced to the ISR swim program by her sister-in-law. After seeing the benefits in her nephew, Holly decided to enroll her own children in the swimsprout program. She was blown away at the growth in both kids, not only in their aquatic abilities but also the confidence they gained outside the water. She is a graduate of Jacksonville University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Patti has always had a passion of helping children in any way possible. In 2009, she married her husband and in 2010, they had their first child. In 2012, a second child completed their family. After teaching elementary education for 10 years, Patti was blessed to be able to become a stay-at-home mom and be there for her kids every step of the way. In 2012, Patti and her husband enrolled their son in swimsprout lessons with Heidi Burnett. After the first two weeks, they were amazed at how much their son had learned and how Heidi worked her “magic.” Their son was almost 2 years old when he was first enrolled in swimsprout lessons and by the time he was 3, he was swimming all over every pool he went to. Patti didn’t hesitate to enroll her daughter in lessons with Heidi when she was only 13 months old. In 2013, Patti talked with Heidi about becoming a swimsprout instructor but with 2 kids under three years old, Patti knew it would be difficult to balance the home life she was building and starting a new career. Almost 10 years later, and after careful consideration, research and constant consultation with Heidi, Patti has decided it’s her time to help save lives! She has been happily married to her high school sweetheart, Robert, since 1995, and they have two incredible sons, Darek and Owen. Amy has dedicated her life to help her sons pursue their passions, whether it was motocross or working on cars, and now Amy is excited to pursue her own with swimsprout. Amy has been employed at two of New Smyrna Beach’s staple restaurants and is adored by all patrons due to her friendly and welcoming demeanor. When Amy’s not working, she can be found walking on the beach, on the water in her boat, or spending quality time with her loved ones and swimming in her pool. Amy was introduced to swimsprout through a mutual friend. When Amy realized it combined two of her favorite things, children and the water, she knew she found her calling. Amy has informally taught both of her sons, nephews, and most recently, her great-nephew how to swim. Amy realizes the importance of water safety and is thrilled to use her newfound aquatic survival skills to instill confidence in parents and children alike. She attended Boone High School in Orlando and then followed her passion to nursing school. She planted her family roots in the Conway/Belle Isle area, just outside of downtown Orlando. Blair currently practices as a Registered Nurse at a local pediatric office and absolutely loves it! She always knew she would work with children because, to her, there is nothing more rewarding than providing continuity of care as a primary pediatric RN. A side benefit and some of her favorite things is getting to know the families of her little patients and watching them grow. After enrolling her 7-month-old baby in swim lessons with Heidi and Brooke at swimsprout, a light sparked in her. In that moment, she realized she had found another passion, that she had prayed for, that would allow her to continue to help children and their families. After becoming a nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician, Dallis was looking for a way to make a difference in the health and safety of children. He was inspired to use his EMT training and skills to provide the same experience of infant aquatic safety for children in his community that he and his wife had with their own son. She has two beautiful children, Cohen and Oaklynn. Katlyn graduated from Boone High School in Orlando, then pursued a career in sonography. Having a high-risk pregnancy and a special needs son has opened Katlyn’s eyes to just how fragile life is. Katlyn's deep connection for the water started very early in life after spending a lot of time in and around Florida waters. In 2019, she enrolled her son in swimsprout lessons and discovered her passion for aquatic safety. Katlyn was thrilled her son was able to perform life-saving skills in the water and became fully confident and independent by the age of three. Her daughter followed and continues to grow her own fins. Both children have a huge love for water and have never relied on flotation devices, all due to the swim-float-swim training they received at swimsprout. Becoming a swimsprout instructor was an easy decision; wanting to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. After dedicating several years to her son, who has autism and cerebral palsy, Katlyn is focused on making a difference in the lives of others. In 2010, she first met Heidi while working in the dental field and found herself asking countless questions about swimsprout and was fascinated by how such young babies and children could learn to swim and float with confidence. Laura has always loved spending time outdoors, especially at the beach, pool, and lakes, where water and family-life naturally come together. That connection to the water became even more meaningful when she experienced swimsprout firsthand after enrolling her own children. All three of her little ones began swimsprout lessons at around 7 months old, and she quickly fell in love with the program. Watching her children progress and gain confidence in the water was incredibly special. Grayson and Caitlin both learned to float with Heidi, building an essential foundation of water safety. Grayson later learned the swim-float-swim with Heidi. Caitlin learned swim-float-swim from Heidi, Brooke, Briana, Katlyn, and Kelly (all swimsprout instructors). Seeing their growth and confidence develop through consistent instruction was both fascinating and inspiring. When her youngest, Colin, started to learn the rollback and float with Kelly, that moment became especially meaningful for Laura. Watching him develop those early water-safety skills helped spark a deeper connection to the program and inspired her to inquire about becoming a swimsprout instructor during that season. These experiences continue to shape Laura’s passion and belief in early water education, safety, and the importance of building confidence in and around the water. Our family has happily lived in the Avalon Park area since 2003 and has seen the vast development of the area since that time. I have always loved the water and was a competitive swimmer in high school. I am a certified scuba diver who thoroughly enjoys exploring the underwater world. My first experience with survival swim lessons was in 1986, when my twin cousins participated in a swim program to learn how to roll onto their backs and float. Years later, and after many more family members went through survival swim lessons, I enrolled my own twin daughters. I was so convinced and motivated about the lifesaving skills my daughters had learned, I decided to become a certified swim instructor who would teach the same life-saving skills. I began teaching swim lessons in 2001 and since that time, I have taught more than 3,000 children throughout the United States. I worked diligently to expand my knowledge by participating in the Master Instructor training program and eventually made it to the highest level possible, Senior Master Instructor (SMI). As a Master Instructor, I studied theoretical concepts in behavioral sciences, child development, psychology, and child anatomy/physiology. I also traveled to various parts of the country and have trained more than 40 new swim instructors. In all those different areas and working with new instructors, I was responsible for the advertising of new students and securing training facilities. I was also mentoring 10 to 12 instructors throughout the U.S., providing guidance and troubleshooting lessons to enhance on-going instructor development. As a SMI, I trained instructors to become Master Instructors. As part of those trainings, I worked in-water with the instructors to identify theoretical gaps and to improve their efficiency as instructors. This was often aided by conducting many hours of academic and video review sessions. During re-certification conferences, I conducted workshops that supported instructor development. All this while building and maintaining my own client base in Orlando. When I am teaching your child the skills needed to survive an aquatic accident, you’ll see that I am firm, fair, and passionate about what I do. I love meeting new people and educating them throughout the journey of your child’s lessons. I want to ensure that all students leave my program with the tools and confidence to survive any aquatic accident and that the parents are also educated on how to help maintain the newly acquired aquatic skills and how to encourage their children beyond the initial training. Parents will be provided plenty of opportunities to get in the water and learn how to reinforce these lifesaving skills. My goal is to teach children the skills they will use for a lifetime. I have learned that when children obtain aquatic skills at a young age, it exudes confidence and makes them more assured in other aspects of their lives too. Having lived in Winter Springs, Oviedo and now Altamonte Springs. Kendall is currently a Registered Nurse in the NICU specializing in the care of developmentally delayed infants and toddlers. She also has a degree in child development from Auburn University. Working with little ones has always been her passion. Her children, Caroline and Owen, were raised around water activities in the Winter Springs/Oviedo area. Both took swim lessons as toddlers. It was during this time that Kendall realized how important it is for all children to learn swim skills. With her children now grown and flown Kendall is looking forward to helping other children and families in the area enjoy water safely. She was born in Hawaii, raised between Virginia and Florida, and became a Delaware resident in 2009. Growing up on the East Coast meant being surrounded by water activities. She was always on the boat, in the pool, at the beach, or at the lake. Prior to moving to Delaware, Laura spent several years serving as a volunteer emergency medical technician. Her love for the water combined with her experiences as an EMT has made her passionate about the importance of aquatic skills for children. She has been an advocate for survival swim training and has actively worked to bring needed training to her area. When Laura’s oldest daughter was just six months old, she began her search for an instructor. She could not find any instructors or programs close by that would teach the exact skillset she was looking for. She spent time contacting instructors and reaching out to programs, asking them to come to the area. She eventually enrolled her daughter in traditional group lessons and semi-private lessons but realized that these classes only gave her young child a false sense of security around the water and not the true skills she would need to save herself. This convinced Laura that it was time to complete her instructor certification and education. She is proud to serve families in Delaware and the surrounding areas providing life-saving aquatic lessons.
